On Friday, November 7, 2025, the Hitotsubashi University International Seminar was held under the coordination of Assistant Professor Jacoby Julia Mariko from Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study. The seminar featured Dr. Frank Uekötter (Professor, Ruhr University Bochum) as the presenter. With the theme “The Enigma of Monoculture (and why it matters for historians)” the seminar brought together researchers, faculty members, and students for lively discussions.

The Hitotsubashi University International Seminar supports young researchers and students in developing into global talent. As part of this initiative, the seminar facilitates events featuring researchers from overseas universities or international scholars as speakers.
