Professor Mari Sako (affiliated with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford) has been appointed to HIAS BRIDGES as part of the HIAS BRIDGES Distinguished Program, a flagship initiative of the Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Studies (HIAS) at Hitotsubashi University that invites world‑class researchers. Professor Sako is internationally renowned for her research on international comparison and industrial transformation, particularly in the automotive industry and professional services. During her approximately six-week stay at Hitotsubashi University, she will engage in research and educational activities primarily with members of the Legal Innovation Program at the Institute for Global Governance Research (GGR).

Profile: Professor Mari Sako
Professor of Management Studies at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and Professorial Fellow at New College. She is internationally recognized for her work in global strategy, comparative political economy, and the future of professional work. Before joining Oxford in 1997, she taught at the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the British Academy.

The HIAS Bridges Distinguished program started in 2022 as a part of the HIAS Bridges, which aims to strengthen HIAS into a “base of social science” where top-level researchers form a multi-layered research network. The HIAS Bridges Distinguished program aims to further deepen and sophisticate research at HIAS by inviting world-class researchers to HIAS internationally and conducting joint research with HIAS researchers.
