Hamza Umer (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) gave 2 invited lectures as part of the “Ethics, Values & Public Policy” course on 2 October at the Department of Public Policy, College of Liberal Arts at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the US.
The course examines how personal values, societal norms, and ethics inform and influence public policies, their implementation, and their effectiveness. It also studies how new developments in science and technology affect the interplay between values, norms, ethics, and public policies.
The lectures introduced students to the role of socio-economic preferences in AI adoption based on the data collected from six countries, and discussed several mechanisms to accelerate AI adoption, specifically among young individuals.
